During the preparation a team must learn how to construct a robot base, then a number of attachments for the different tasks and how to program the robot to successfully use sensors.
This course focuses on buiding the robot base and programming it to follow lines on the field. Next courses will focus on attachments and examples from competitions.
Although every team can participate in the FIRST LEGO League robotics competition, the winning teams follow a number of patterns that are proven to be valuable and to result in more points being gathered. Every year the tasks and very similar, and because of that, once a team has a construction for the robot base and understand the process of building attachments they could gather 70-80% of the field points in a week and then focus on the specifics of the field. And we have seen this a number of times in the past with teams just reusing their constructions from previous years.
