FIRST LEGO League (FLL) 2018-2019 Into Orbit Challenge. Solutions and Review

Our goal with this course is to do a recap of FIRST LEGO League 2018-2019 Into Orbit competition. We'll show different solutions for some of the missions along with discussion on the approaches. We hope that a recap like this could help team prepare for next year. With available building instructions, ready to use programs this course is perfect for exercise on the missions from the competition.

Introduction

In this course we will show different attachments and different solutions for the missions of FIRST LEGO League Into Orbit Challenge. We'll explain how the attachments work and how they should be programed. There will be a few solutions from Nightbeast Team including how they combine their missions in 4 runs. We also present additional approaches for some of the missions. Each mission has a program.

How to use this course

You use this course as a team.

You start with the first mission. This means you construct the robot, mission model and attachment (there are building instructions for everything).

You then download the already prepared program and you run it. You tweak the behaviour of the robot and try to accomplish the mission. You mark the progress on the course by completing the tasks. For the accomplish tasks to be marked as completed you upload a short video.

What you would learn as a team and what the course is teaching you as a team is how to think about the different missions, how to build attachments for them and how to program the robot with specific examples for programs. Try to understand the programs yourself. We've also included a few examples for runs that are trying to accomplish 2 or 3 missions. These are multi-purpose attachments designed to accomplish many missions in a single run.
