In today’s lesson students will have to calculate the time they need to go through the door. Be careful as they might easily start pushing and shoving each other. Keep the order and tell them to behave calmly as if there is an earthquake, for example. Use the occasion to explain crowd safety and the danger of trampled people.
The aim of these tasks is to show students that the algorithm is always the same, no matter the value of people flow. This means students should always divide the number of people by time, whether there are 1, 2, 5, 10, etc. people and whether the time is 1, 2, 5 seconds...
The other objective is to make students realize the difference between “half a person per second” and “two people per second” and learn how to express that in the program.
