The firfth level of the Robotics with LEGO curriculum for students in second, third or fourth grades.
The students build many robots with chain-treads. The Color Sensor is introduced and robots use it to recognize the colors of the objects around them. Students learn about gears, basic gear constructions, and their application. Robots now can stop on a black line and can follow a line using their sensor.
Rubber bands in the LEGO Mindstorms sets are very handy when it comes to collecting objects, especially loops. The mechanism most of the time could work like this - an axle is pushed, a rubber band is released and a lever collects the loop.
Building instructions for a Full LEGO Mindstorms EV3 Competition Robot that could be used in LEGO Robotics competitions.
There is a lot of physics and math involved when learning with LEGO Mindstorms EV3 robots. It is generally "difficult" to include them directly during classes because students are coming for "something funnier" and at the same time, they could be of different ages. But Inertia is a pretty common topic that is quite easy to introduce to students, especially with a robot.
The robot moves and stops. What will happen with the cargo when the robot stops? Naturally, the cargo will continue moving and this is dangerous. For how long, what would be the energy? All these are things that could be discussed with this robot.
The robot is not completely finished because you have to finish it and decide on the wheels to be used.
Lifter is an pretty fast and pretty strong attachment that lift up... things... like exercise machine, astronauts and other stuff.
A program for that attachment in Into Orbit 09 - Strength Exercise challenge is located at programs/hm9c06-lifter-an-attachment-for-suv-box-robot-and-into-orbits-m09-strength-exercise-program.
This robot is made to serve the best tea in the whole continent! It is based on the Easy Bot from EV3. As its predecessor it is based on LEGO Mindstorms EV3. It uses two large motors to move around. The best part of the robot is the cup holder, that has a cool cup that shows the KISS principle.
Building instructions for the EasyBot LEGO Mindstorms robot using in many of our courses and tutorials. This EasyBot has two motors and two front wheels. The third wheel is...well, check it out, see how the third wheel is built.
