FLL 2021: 10 out of 10 on how to accomplish The Bridge mission Pro Preview

This is a 10 out of 10 video tutorial where we demonstrate the consistency and reliability of a LEGO Education SPIKE Prime Active attachment connected to the motors of the robot. The goal of this attachment is to accomplish the Bridge mission where we have to push both parts of the bridge and bring them down to connect them. We use some line following.

This is a ten out of ten tutorial where we demonstrate the bridge mission from the FIRST LEGO League 2021-2022 competition called Cargo Connect. And we use a LEGO Education Spike Prime robot with a simple active attachment. Ten out of ten tutorial start from base. Let's see the robot. The road starts from base. The attachment is pointing forward. It has a simple algorithm for line following and we've made it really slow. It reaches the mission model, accomplishes one and the second part of the bridge. That's it. Now, the goal of us demonstrating this mission is for you to try, try to build the robot in the same way and try we haven't uploaded the program and we haven't demonstrated what the program is, but it's a simple line following here. So try to do it. And here you can see that it's consistent and reliable. It demonstrates the use of the sensor and that the robot could consistently and reliably reach a mission model that's somewhere in the center of the field. It starts from base every time, moves forward. This is the third run. And how do we know when to activate the attachment? As you can see, we follow the line with the right sensor. But what we also do, we have the left sensor. And this left sensor is about detecting the lines, the lines on the left side. So we follow the line with the right sensor, but we can detect some intersections with the left sensor. And when we detect some intersections, we can decide, okay, now we want to activate or we don't want to activate the attachment.

This is it. We classify we classify these attachments as active attachments. And here you can see that it's a simple beam. Now the point here is that some missions don't require complex attachments. Some missions could be accomplished with a simple beam attached to a motor. Now the question of course becomes how can we expand on this and how can we accomplish more than one mission? But we'll enter into this in some of the next courses. A few more tries. I think we did six, if I'm not mistaken.

Continue. Take the term right, follow the line

1, second and we bring the robot back to base. This is the 14th mission from the competition. And you can remember that there is a mission called Large Delivery where we had to bring a large wing for wind turbine and we had to bring it to a mission model. The point there is that before the Large Delivery mission we should find a way to accomplish the bridge because otherwise there is not enough space on the field to bring the Large Delivery. There is some connection here between the missions, some way they should be ordered, something that influences the strategy of the team. Complete one mission so that we can find and have space for completing another mission. Last run.

It's complete. Ten out of ten very consistent. Very. A reliable robot using a light sensor to follow the lines and simple active attachment to accomplish the mission. Hope this is helpful and I'll see you in the next tutorial.
