- for speed - the robot uses gear wheeels to increase the rotation speed generated by the motor;
- for doing multiple actions simultaneously - the robot uses gear wheels to perform two simultaneous actions with one motor only;
- for transforming rotational motion into linear - this is not a genuine use of the gear wheel, but still.
- for torque
- turntable for rotating the mechanism
