The goal of this course is the help you learn to program LEGO Education SPIKE Prime robots to behave consistently and reliably during competitions. As a language we use LEGO Education SPIKE App Word Blocks which is based on Scratch. We look at a lot of concepts that could be used for FIRST LEGO League and World Robot Olympiad competitions - eg how to follow a line fast, slow, in a smooth way, with 5 states. Also how to align to lines, how to do double alignment, how to keep a straight line with motion sensor.

This course is focused on the first part. The second part is the whole FLLCasts platform, but start at FIRST LEGO League with LEGO Mindstorms Robot Inventor. "Challenge" competition for 9-16 years old.

The goal of this course is to help you learn to program LEGO Robots using Scratch and make them behave consistently and reliably during competitions. As a language we use LEGO MINDSTORMS App Word Blocks which is based on Scratch. We look at a lot of concepts that could be used for FIRST LEGO League and World Robot Olympiad competitions - for example, how to follow a line fast, slow, in a smooth way, with 5 states. Also, how to align to lines, how to do double align, how to keep a straight line with a motion sensor.

Unfortunately, LEGO discontinued the robot series during the making of this course which is why it's kind of shortish. You could use the SPIKE Prime course for a more in-depth analysis.

Umjaho - the relay line following robot built with LEGO Mindstorms EV3

Umjaho - from the language of the Zulu tribe. It means "competition"

This LEGO Mindstorms EV3 robot has three sensors - touch, color and ultrasonic. When the touch sensor is pressed the robot starts moving. The color sensor is used for following lines and the ultrasonic sensor is used to detect any robots in front of the robot.

Calix - LEGO SPIKE Prime carrying robot

Calix, from latin, means cup. Calix is made to carry an object while following a black line. Most people, when they think of robotics, they think of how the robots may help them at home, with the chores that no one wants to do. This robot is a simple version of this. You can give it a cup in the kitchen and then it will deliver it to the end of the black line! The robot uses two SPIKE Prime medium motors to move and a color sensor to follow a line. At the front it has Large motor with a gear system that lowers and rises the "cup".

This program is for Calix - LEGO SPIKE Prime carrying robot. The robot is made to carry an object while following a black line. This is probably one of the first thought that comes to mind when you think of robotics - A robot that can help at home! This robot is made as a first try at this concept. It can move not too heavy objects from one room to the other, following a black line. The program does the following: First it waits for you to put something on the robot and to click the left or right hub buttons. After that it lifts the item a bit and starts following a black line. It follows the line until it sees the same color for more than 3 seconds, thats how the robot knows it has reached the end of the line! After that it rises whatever it is carrying and waits while keeping the object up.

How and why to align to a line with two LEGO Education SPIKE Prime Color Sensors

This tutorial demonstrates how a robot could align to a black line. The code for the program is available in the course. Aligning to black lines is popular at robotics competitions like FIRST LEGO League as it is the primary way to know where you are on the field and to develop a program that is reproducible. The attachment uses Luly, a small LEGO Education SPIKE Prime competition robot with 3D building instructions as a robot base.

FLL 2020: Attachment for Boccia mission

This is a LEGO Education SPIKE Prime robot attachment for accomplishing the FIRST LEGO League 2020 Replay Boccia mission . The attachment is designed for Gazon, LEGO Education SPIKE Prime competition robot.. With this attachment we follow the line with the robot until we reach the team mission and we use the lever on the top to push the blue box. Then we follow the line to reach the Boccia mission, and three things happen: 1. align to the mission model with the front of the attachment, 2. turn the lever to release the green boxes and 3. move the lever to push on the mission model. This is a complex mission requiring a lot of coordination from the robot. Quite interesting I must say.
