In this lesson for the FLL 2025-2026 UNEARTHED competition, the robot combines Mission 02: Map Reveal and Mission 03: Mineshaft Explorer in a single run. The tutorial focuses on clearing the topsoil sections, collecting one of them, and activating the mineshaft model during the return journey.
Fll 2025: Push, Grab, Lift - Smaller Pancake Accomplishing M02 Map Reveal, and lifting the Mineshaft Platform for M03 Mineshaft Explorer
One attachment, two mission models, and a lot happening in only a few seconds. During the FLL UNEARTHED season, the Smaller Pancake box robot uses the M02 and M03 attachment to reveal the map, secure the third topsoil section, and send the minecart to the opposing team's field.
The video looks beyond the route and shows how a preloaded rubber-band lever activates only when the robot reaches the model. Angled guides, front wheels, and a long rear platform each handle a different part of the sequence, making this a useful example of combining missions without adding extra stops.
Fll 2025: 10 out of 10 on Push, Grab, Lift - Smaller Pancake Accomplishing M02 Map Reveal, and lifting the Mineshaft Platform for M03 Mineshaft Explorer
Can a motor-free mechanism repeat a multi-mission run without adjustments? This 10 out of 10 tutorial follows the Smaller Pancake box robot and the Map Reveal and Mineshaft Explorer attachment through M02 and M03 in the FIRST LEGO League 2025-2026 UNEARTHED competition.
All ten attempts show the same chain of actions: the robot aligns, clears the topsoil, catches the loop, and lifts the minecart platform on the way back. The video highlights why the loaded rubber-band trigger and continuous path are so dependable—and why a carefully refined passive design can outperform a more complicated mechanism.
FLL 2025: Rules for M02 Map Reveal FIRST LEGO League 2025-2026 UNEARTHED Challenge
Archaeologists work hard to unearth important clues about how a civilization once lived. Shift and remove topsoil to reveal sections of a hidden map.
Score
- Topsoil sections are completely cleared: 10 each

FLLCasts Tip
In this mission, you must reveal all the pieces of an ancient hidden map. To do this, you will need attachments that can push two of the topsoil sections, as well as a “hook” to catch the loop on the third topsoil section.
The model is located in the upper left corner of the field, close to the home area. This positioning gives you access to the model from an additional side, making it easier to approach.
It also allows the third topsoil section to be placed directly in the home area, where the team can immediately take it and prepare it for Mission 14.

FLL 2025: Rules for M12 Salvage Operation FIRST LEGO League 2025-2026 UNEARTHED Challenge
An ancient ship discovered at the beach is at risk of further decay. Excavate the vessel without damaging its delicate structure.
Sand is considered completely cleared when the pull activator is past the line on the mat.
No Equipment Constraint: The mission model cannot earn points if it is touching equipment at the end of the match.
Score
- Sand is completely cleared: 20
- Ship is completely raised: 10

FLLCasts Tip
For M12 Salvage Operation, the goals are to remove the sand (by pulling the pool activator behind the thick line) and to fully raise the ship. These two goals can be completed in separate runs. To raise the ship, it’s best to use the lever, since the ship wobbles around an axle.
Here’s the catch — if you remove the sand first, it falls into the spot where the ship was, and the pool activator rises up. This means you’ll need a different strategy and attachment. To accomplish the sand first, it’s easiest to use the pool activator, though you can also push the sand — it’s just a bit more complicated.

Smaller Pancake - SPIKE Prime Box Robot
This robot is very low, relatively compact and very hard to control. To move as desired it must carry heavy attachment between its front tires. It also needs often clearing of its rear balls and the beads where they are positioned. Ones that is done the robot becomes pretty accurate. If you change the front tires with tires that have higher grip than the ones in the Spike set it becomes precious. Spike Prime Tires don't have grip but looks good. :)
It is ideal to learn how to control robots in real world applications where nature plays bad jokes on the engineers.
The two color sensors look up so it can see the attachment control parts, so it decides what part of the program to run. It have only one attachment motor with only 1 attachment element - 28 Teeth and 4 holes Gear.
FLL 2025: An attachment to accomplish M02 Map Reveal and M03 Mineshaft Explorer
This attachment is designed for the Smaller Pancake - SPIKE Prime Box Robot and completes Mission 02: Map Reveal and Mission 03: Mineshaft Explorer in the FIRST LEGO League 2025-2026 UNEARTHED competition. It pushes two of the topsoil sections aside and lifts the third to extract it. The robot then moves backward and raises the rail, allowing the minecart to travel onto the other team’s field.
Download the program below and test it on your robot to accomplish the missions.
Adjust the program as needed to ensure it functions correctly under your specific conditions. Keep in mind that external factors, such as the condition of the mat, motors, tires, and other components, can influence the robot's performance.
