In this video tutorial, we use the motion sensor and demonstrate 10 out of 10 times how we can keep the robot moving in a straight line. The program is described in the previous tutorial in the lesson where we enter into the programming. Here we visualize how consistent and reliable the behavior of the robot is.

In this video tutorial we use LEGO Education Spike Prime to move straight and to push on mission model from the FIRST LEGO League Cargo Connect competition. And we are doing it ten out of ten to demonstrate how we can move straight with this LEGO Education SPIKE Prime robots. First run we start the robot. Move forward and you see how the robot moves to the left and to the right, to the left, to the right. And we've discussed this in the previous tutorial where we discuss the programming of this robot. This is how we keep a straight line. We compensate for the error that the robot is making. When this robot starts, it always goes slightly to the left or to the right because of the motors, because of the way the LEGO Education SPIKE Prime is constructed, because of many different reasons, because of the wheels that slip on the field. But it goes to the left or to the right, and then we compensate for the error because we have the motion sensor. Let's see again move and we compensate and we keep a straight line. So the point here is not that we push on our mission model, that's something that everybody could do. We can push, we can just move forward and push. The point is that we try to keep a straight line when moving forward and backward and you see how consistent and reliable this behavior is. Start. The robot goes slightly to the right. Then compensates. Then returns. One more time.
This is it, ten out of ten for this unload cargo ship.
With this program we can see it's a more consistent and more reliable as a robot behavior. Hope this is helpful and I'll see you in the next tutorial.
Courses and lessons with this Tutorial
This Tutorial is used in the following courses and lessons
FIRST LEGO League 2021-2022 Cargo Connect solutions and review with LEGO Education SPIKE Prime
In this course, we demonstrate and explain example solutions for the FIRST LEGO League 2021-2022 Cargo Connect competition. Just like every year, we share solutions only after the season is over. In this course, you will find examples and principles of building attachments and will learn how to program consistent and reliable robots for each mission. You can follow the course, and as you go through each mission, try to replicate the solutions to understand the programs and explanations. Upon completion of the course, you will have many new ideas about how to approach the missions in every FLL robotics competition and how to help your team score more points.
Before starting this course, we suggest you go through the FIRST LEGO League robot game guide

M07. Unload Cargo Ship
In this video tutorial, we use the Unload Cargo Ship mission from FIRST LEGO League 2021 Cargo Connect robotics competition to demonstrate how we program the robot to keep a straight line while moving. Do we need that for this mission? Probably not, but we do it either way to demonstrate the solution in a fairly simple mission. The program uses the motion sensor to auto-correct the errors the robot is making while moving.
