Service robot
Now that we befriended our robot, it is time to ask the robot a favor.
We all would love to have a personal robot assistant that could do chores for us.
Let's make the robot bring us a glass of water. Or any other beverage of your liking.
Careful with the water
The task is not as simple as it seems because water could easily spill and damage the robot bringing it.
We have to be extra careful and precise with our programming.
Acceleration and Inertia
By the end of the module, you will be aware of the subjects of acceleration and inertia and your robot will be able to carry water in a cup around without spilling it.

Wouldn't it be great if the robots could help us at home by carrying different things around the house and helping us with the load? But we must consider the load that the robot is carrying the cargo. Because it could break the robot. Now that we befriend our robot it's time to ask the robot a favor. We would love to have a personal robot assistance that could do the chores for us. Let's make the robot bring us a glass of water or a cup of water because I have a cup of water. It could also bring us any other beverage of your liking. The task is not very simple because water could easily spill and damage the robot that brings the water. We have to be extra careful and precise when programming. In the module we won't use a real glass or cup of water because it has water inside and we can spill it but we'll use a construction like this. At the end we must have a robot that carries this load very carefully without dropping it and without actually holding it. Just placing the glass and this part looks like a glass actually just placing the glass on the robot and moving with the robot. Let's see how this works at the end of the module.
The subject of this part of the course is acceleration and inertia. And when we don't control the acceleration and the inertia of the robot the cargo in this case a cup of water could easily fall from the robot. What we must have at the end
while working on this course is to be able to develop programs where the robot moves very smoothly. It accelerates, decelerates and the cup is still there.
