Specific challenge on programming the robot to move as a Yo-Yo
Turning with the Gyro Sensor on a specified angle and stopping there have never been easy. It is not going to get any better. However, this is not a problem of the Gyro sensor. The problem is in the way we develop our programs.
In Episode 58 we introduced you to an LEGO Mindstorms EV3 Modular robot. Mic Lowne wrote to us and had that robot remade, because it used too many blue lego pins and could not be build using one EV3 kit.
Starting with the World Robotics Olympiad 2014 Junior-High challenge we first catch the object on our path. We discuss a good mechanism for catching and lifting balls that can do two movements with one motor.
There are number of settings in a Move block and now we will focus on the rotations setting
The third robot has the brick and motors placed vertically. This is quite unusual and difficult, but the construction is very powerful because it saves space.
Use the color sensor to count the lines and stop on the third line. We do not use the wait block for this.
Tasks for introduction on building robots.
The 90-degree turn of the robot is different from 90-degree turn of the motor!
Sometimes the way an axle is placed is just not suitable for a certain attachment and you should transfer the motion to another axle a few LEGO units above the current.
How far will the robot move for one second?
Building instructions for a LEGO Mindstorms Base Chassis with a reversible motor
Note: This robot contains wheels that are from the NXT set.
These are building instructions for one of the greatest LEGO Mindstorms attachments that we've built. Super simple and easy to follow and at the end, you have an attachment with a rubber band that controls a lever and that could lift objects from the field. It could lift them up. Also because it is with a rubber band you don't need a motor and you could use the motor for other attachments.
Building instructions for the Easy Bot built with LEGO Mindstorms EV3 parts. This LEGO robot is suitable for classes with students in robotics and is one of the first robots that we build. It takes about 10-20 minutes to be constructed by first-time participants.
This modification of the box robot contains large wheels. It was specially requested by you and we have it.
The building instructions are for a robot that kind of looks like the Spy Bot but it has treads instead of wheels. Like a Tank. Tank Spy Bot. Treads are always funny and you could use the robot chassis base to extend with additional attachments and tools.
The goal of these building instructions is to build a simple LEGO Mindstorms EV3 robot without wheels. You should then think of yourself how exactly to add the wheel. Which wheels would you use on the front? How are you going to build the third wheel? Here are for example a few recommendations on building the third wheel - 1, 2, 3, 4
Later on you can expland this construction with a grabber as demosntrated here.
Do you have some awesome remote controlled racer cars? Have you ever wanted to see which one is faster? Or maybe having a speed race with your homies. You can do all that and much more with this amazing LEGO Mindstorms EV3 radar robot. It will also ring police sirens when you break the speed limit, just know that you're declared WANTED!
An example program for using this robot could be found here.
Geldautomaat, from German, means ATM.
This is the last robot from the 3.0 course book in the LEGO Mindstorms Curriculum. It uses a Touch Sensor to sense if there is a card inside. When touched, a Medium Motor starts spinning and pulls the card inside its chamber, where a Color Sensor reads the data from the card.
NOTE: There is a step, where you have to place the "credit card" inside. It may seem unnecessary and pointless, but otherwise, you will not have proper support for the next steps and the construction will crumble.
This attachment have a guider mechanism that align the robot to the attachment. The attachment woks with SUV Box Robot.
